Reconsider Leaf Burning

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that burning leaves produce dangerous, cancer-causing chemicals. Homeowners are urged to avoid disposing of leaves this way. If you do burn leaves, wear a protective mask and stay away from the smoke. Maintain a safe distance from homes or other structures and have a fire extinguisher ready. Always check the weather forecast before starting to burn. Outdoor burning should never be attempted in windy or extremely dry conditions as the risk of spreading fire is great. Fires should be attended at all times.
